Your guide to delivering with Uber Eats
These tips and recommendations from restaurant owners and top delivery partners will help you improve the delivery experience.
Picking up your order
How you present yourself matters
Restaurant staff and consumers tell us that delivery partners who are neat and tidy make a better impression.
Look professional by wearing clean clothes and closed-toed shoes. Please try removing your helmet before entering a restaurant or delivering an order.
How your behaviour can affect people
Restaurants owners and customers tell us delivery partners need to always be mindful of how their words and actions might affect someone.
Inappropriate comments or unwelcome communication before, during or after delivery can make people uncomfortable. This can lead to a poor rating and even permanent deactivation of your account.
Why no one else should use your delivery partner account
Never let other people use your account. Sharing a delivery profile with others is a safety issue and is against Uber Eats policy.
To avoid any confusion, be sure your profile photo in the app looks like you.
Best practice from top partners for completing deliveries
Review details: Double check the details of the drop-off instructions in the app.
Contact consumer: If information is missing, or the recipient isn’t there, contact them through the app at least twice. If the recipient doesn’t answer, leave a message on their voicemail. This makes sure everyone has a good experience.
Wait 5 minutes: If the recipient still doesn’t respond, attempt to call again. It is good to give consumers a moment, because cancelled orders impact restaurants and consumers.
If the consumer is still uncontactable please dispose of the food. Follow the instructions in the app and complete the trip. You will still receive your fare for this delivery. You can do this without negatively affecting your rating.
Be careful: Continued failed deliveries may be considered fraudulent behaviour as indicated by our Community Guidelines and could lead to the permanent deactivation of your account.
Properly storing and transporting food
Transporting pizzas properly
Restaurant partners requesting pizza deliveries ask you to make sure pizzas arrive undamaged by:
- Transporting pizzas flat, never sideways
- Placing pizzas either inside an insulated bag or securely on a car seat
- Placing multiple boxes in the front zip of your bicycle bag
Delivering drinks securely
Top partners keep drinks level and upright by:
- Using an insulated bag
- Placing drinks in a cup tray or cup holder
- Securely placing drinks on a car seat
If the packaging provided isn’t working, let restaurants know in the app.
Keeping orders flawless
Top partners make sure consumers never receive an order which has been opened, damaged or has items missing.
- Carefully check all items are included and are packaging correctly before leaving the restaurant
- If any damage occurs during transit, let the recipient know when completing the delivery
Providing door-to-door service
Top partners always check delivery drop-off instructions and do their best to accommodate requests.
If door-to-door drop off isn’t possible, contact the consumer to see if they can collect their order kerbside.
