In honor of Mothers’ Day this year, we are celebrating the remarkable women who drive with Uber in South Florida.
Meet Diana, a mother of two, self-proclaimed “soccer mom” and driver-partner from Palm Beach who has been driving since January.
How did you first get started driving with Uber?
My 16-year-old son! I had heard of Uber before, but he really encouraged me to try it out. He helped me sign up and download the app onto my phone.
What do you like best about driving?
I drive part-time in between volunteering with my kids. Both of my boys – ages 16 and 11 – play travel soccer and I volunteer with their teams as club manager, which takes up a lot of time. My husband is French and he loves soccer, so they both starting playing when they were old enough. I didn’t grow up with it but now I’ve ended up loving soccer. My kids are my favorite players in the world!
What would you say to other women interested in driving?
Since I started driving, I’ve had a lot of riders who tell me how much they love having a woman driver. I love that I can spend time with my kids and make a little extra money at the same time. At the same time we are helping the community, making sure people who might have had a few drinks get home safely by providing a service that is easy and convenient. I also take people to work who maybe can’t afford a car, or aren’t within walking distance of work. Being able to help people out by driving is really important to me.
