How it works

1. Accept a request

You can accept the delivery request and head to the restaurant.

2. Pick up the order

Introduce yourself, pick up the order and start the delivery in the app.

3. Drop off the order

Travel to the drop-off point to deliver the food order.

Hit the road

It’s easy to get started.

1. Sign up online

Download the Uber Driver app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Log in to your existing account or tap register to create a new account.

2. Complete sign-up steps

We’ll need a copy of a few personal documents. You will also need to lodge a background check and right to work check.

Note: Requirements vary by city.

3. Activate your account

Once you have provided all the required documents, your account should be active in five business days.

Required documents: Delivering by bicycle

Proof of ID

The proof of ID document must clearly show:

  • Your photo
  • Legal given names (first name and any middle names)
  • Surname
  • Birth country
  • Birth state
  • Birth city
  • Gender
  • Date of birth

Driver’s licence, student ID or national ID

A secondary form of ID is also required and must clearly show:

  • Your photo
  • Legal given names (first name and any middle names)
  • Surname

Required documents: Delivering by car, scooter or motorbike

Driver's licence (front)

You'll need to hold a valid, unrestricted driver's licence for the vehicle type you want to deliver with. The licence must clearly show:

  • Your photo
  • Your name
  • Your address
  • The licence expiry date
  • The class as open (provisional or probationary licences are not accepted)

Driver's licence (back)

The back of your driver’s licence must clearly show:

  • Issue date
  • Expiry date
  • Date of birth
  • Update to address sticker (if applicable)

Proof of ID

The proof of ID document must clearly show:

  • Legal given names (first name and any middle names)
  • Surname
  • Birth country
  • Birth state
  • Birth city
  • Gender
  • Date of birth

Vehicle insurance certificate

The provided insurance certificate of currency must clearly show:

  • Your name as the policyholder or insured driver
  • Your vehicle details (registration, make, model and year)
  • A valid expiry date

Note: you will need to upload a certificate of currency, as insurance renewal documents will not be accepted.

Vehicle registration certificate

The vehicle registration certificate must clearly show:

  • Vehicle plate number
  • VIN
  • Vehicle make, model and year
  • Expiry date

Overseas driver’s licence in Australia

Uber Eats welcomes the use of overseas driver's licences in selected cities in Australia. See below for a list of all cities that currently accept overseas driver's licences.

Eligible delivery partners who hold a temporary visa and a valid full overseas driver’s licence will be able to deliver via car, motorbike or scooter if they meet all other requirements.

What types of overseas driver's licences are acceptable?

Your overseas driver’s licence must:

  • Be current and valid
  • Be valid for the type of vehicle you intend to use to deliver
  • Have a clear photo of yourself

Overseas driver’s licences not in English

If your overseas driver’s licence is not in English, you must provide an acceptable translation. Accepted translations are:

  • International Driving Permit
  • NAATI-certified translation of your driver’s licence

You must provide a photo of both the translation and your licence.

Overseas driver’s licences in English

If your overseas drivers licence is in English, you can simply upload a photo of your licence to t.uber.com/docupdate

Overseas driver’s licences with full legal name

If the name displayed in your overseas driver’s licence does not show your full legal name, you must upload a secondary document. Acceptable documents are:

  • Proof of Age Card issued by the Australian government
  • A Statutory Declaration signed by the Australian Police Force (Federal or State).
  • A Statutory Declaration signed by an Australian Government Official.

Accepted list of countries

The following is a list of countries from which we accept the overseas driver’s licences:

Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea (Republic of Korea), Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Vietnam.
