Wanted to clear something up. There are a few taxis in San Francisco bearing the name “UBER TAXI” on the side of the vehicle. These vehicles are not on the Uber system and have no relationship with us. Uber does not own or operate vehicles, own medallions, or employ drivers. All drivers on the Uber TAXI system are licensed independently by the SFMTA and each works with an established taxi company.

Our aim is to provide a reliable and consistently positive experience by working with great partners. We’ve heard that these taxis are causing confusion, and we have reached out to their owner to ask him to stop using Uber’s name. In the meantime, we wanted to let you all know that these vehicles have no relationship to Uber.
