On The Road With… Randy Rogers
We were lucky enough to get the chance to catch up with Randy Rogers, just in time for his upcoming Dallas show. This Texas-native star is bringing hit after hit to the country music scene. Be sure to catch Randy Rogers Band live in action at Big City Bash this Saturday night at Gexa. Check out their music and tour dates here.
So… how did this all get started?
In San Marcos at Cheatham St. Warehouse.. I began attending open mic night and the rest is history.
Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
Willie Nelson and George Strait
Right. Heard of them. And if you could collaborate with one artist that isn’t Willie or King George, who would it be?
Jason Isbell
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever had thrown at you, while on stage?
Quarters
Quarters? Ouch! Okay, so aside from getting quarters thrown at you… As an artist, what is the biggest challenge you face?
Risking everything to get where we are now. Jumping with no safety net.
We’re sure it’s daunting. But this isn’t – If you could eat one type of ice cream for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cookies and cream, duh.
We’d peg you for more of a mint chocolate chip guy. What is the one thing in school that should be taught but isn’t?
Manners
If you had to listen to the same song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Misery and Gin – Merle Haggard
So when you’re not listening to such up-beat music… what are your top 3 DFW go-to spots?
My three favorite spots in Dallas/Fort Worth are Joe T. Garcia’s and Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, and Rangers Ballpark.
Solid choices – certainly #UberApproved. Speaking of Uber, what’s the best experience you’ve ever had with Uber?
I use Uber on the road almost everyday. There have been lots of great experiences. Having to take an Uber just to do laundry sometimes is fun.
We agree! GTL baby. Now, if Uber could deliver you something in under 5 minutes, what would it be?
A massage
And after your on-demand massage.. What is next for Randy Rogers?
A new record in January ’16 and to just keep on rockin!
Be sure to catch Randy Rogers Band along with Jason Isbell, Stoney Larue and Whiskey Myers at Gexa on 8/1. Get your tickets here and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for fun updates!
