Meet Ivan.
Ivan has been an Uber Partner since the early days in San Francisco. Now you can find him on the streets of Chicago, making a difference one mile at a time. When Ivan isn’t on the road, he’s raising awareness for diabetes and changing lives for a cause that affects nearly 25 million Americans.
When Ivan was eighteen, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Years later, his father was diagnosed with type 2. As Ivan witnessed his family’s health decline, he decided to take action. Ivan battled his condition head-on by changing his diet and transforming his lifestyle from the ground up.
As Ivan began his mission to eat well, he noticed a major shift – physically and mentally. “Immediately, the amount of insulin I needed went down,” said Ivan, “eating vegetables evened out my health without meds.” Before Ivan knew it, his condition did not define him, but his willingness to fight it did.
Since his transformation, Ivan has dedicated his life to spreading his new perspective and healthier lifestyle to other diabetics like himself. Becoming an Uber Partner has helped Ivan launch his business, Smart Diabetes Coach, a platform that educates and gives back to less fortunate diabetics. “I want to share my experience, help others and save lives,” says Ivan, “and Uber is the bridge to my dreams.”
For Ivan, every ride counts, “I tell my passengers that this trip has a social mission,” he says, “every ride goes to saving a life.” Ivan is a living inspiration to all of us at Uber, and we’re proud to call him a partner.
