We recently surveyed drivers across Boston and asked them how we can improve operations at Boston Logan Airport. With over a thousand responses, several key issues for drivers emerged. We’ve grouped these suggestions together and provided insight into what we are doing to make it better. Drivers know great ways to improve their experience with Uber, so we want to make sure to listen to their feedback.
Thank you to all the drivers who submitted your input—we’re listening and working hard to make Uber better for drivers across New England.
I need bathrooms and improved lot conditions at the airport.
Portable bathrooms were installed in the waiting lot of Boston Logan the week of September 18. Additionally, you can walk to the building in the adjacent limo lot and use the restrooms there. You will not be able to receive a request unless you are in the AppRide waiting lot, however, walking over to that bathroom will not cause you to lose your place in line for when you return.
There is also a food truck available at certain times in the adjacent lot; you can walk there and return without losing your place in the queue, as long as you stay online. Generally, thank you for your feedback on the lot conditions, we hear your feedback and are working to improve them.
I’m not satisfied with no surge at the airport.
We’ve heard your feedback and surge has recently been enabled at Logan Airport. We believe this change will be better for drivers and provide a more reliable ride for riders.
I’m not satisfied with short trips, wait times, and earnings at the airport.
Regarding short trips from the airport, we are working on potential solutions to make short trips a better experience for drivers. Thanks for the feedback here and we will let you know any updates as they become available.
With Uber, you can choose your own hours, be your own boss, and make extra money with your car. If the line at the airport is very long, consider driving elsewhere in town for a trip request. With surge now available at the airport, you can check your app to see if it’s a good time to drive at the airport.
To help make the most of your time and decide when and where to drive, there are a few things to be aware of. Check the Promotions Hub of your driver app for any special offers for you and keep an eye on the map for areas of high demand to indicate surge. This is all aimed at helping your earnings as an Uber Partner.
I lose connection to the app in the lot, which can cause me to lose my place in line.
We are actively working on two ways to help fix this. Our engineering team is dedicated to finding a solution to help keep your place in line. Additionally, we are working to improve general connection in the lot by potentially working with third parties and cell phone providers.
Riders have difficulty finding the pickup locations / there needs to be signage.
Making it easy for riders and drivers to find each other is important for a seamless experience at the airport. We are working to ensure that riders are able to find you by improving our in-app directions and communications with riders. As a reminder, riders have directions in the Uber rider app indicating where they should meet their driver. These communications are something we continually work to make more clear and helpful for riders and drivers to find each other.
In addition to these concerns, we are working on several other initiatives to make the experience the best it can be at the airport for both riders and drivers. Thank you for your feedback, and we look forward to continuing to hear from you.
