Uber operates in 282 cities in 53 countries and currently serves 68 percent of the U.S. population, and is growing every day.

Since our launch in San Antonio, Uber has empowered thousands of drivers, hundreds of which are veterans.

Ridesharing is a new industry and in less than 1 year, nearly 2 dozen jurisdictions (including 3 major Texas cities) have adopted smart regulatory frameworks for ridesharing, a transportation alternative that didn’t exist 5 years ago.

300,000 people drive drunk every day and every 2 minutes someone is injured in an alcohol related crash. In Bexar County, there were 8,519 DWI charges last year. 65 percent of people want their local officials to tackle drunk driving. 78 percent say Uber makes their friends less likely to drink and drive. In January alone, Uber provided 40,000 safe rides in San Antonio.

The fees that San Antonio plans to charge Uber drivers on March 1 is just one of the reasons why the current ordinance is unacceptable. The city of Austin requires Uber partner drivers pay $0.00, Houston requires $11.01, and San Antonio requires $175.00.

Dozens of community leaders, hundreds of veterans, and nearly 13,000 individuals have urged San Antonio to support Uber.
