We know that an increasing number of people are using Uber to get to and from public transportation stations. This is true particularly during commuting hours. Due to the recent closure of some BART stations in the East Bay, we are expanding our most affordable carpooling option—uberPOOL—to connect more people to BART in the affected areas.
EXPANDED UBERPOOL COVERAGE AREA
Our goal is to ensure that you can tap a button and get a safe, affordable ride within minutes. Since these stations have been closed, we have already seen a 28% increase in demand. That’s why we are stepping up to offer an even more affordable option to help keep the Bay Area moving.
UberPOOL will be up to 50% cheaper than uberX during commuting hours
Monday- Friday, 7-10 am and 5-8 pm
Here’s how it works:
- Choose the uberPOOL option in the app. Enter your destination and request a ride.
- You’ll see your driver’s details straight away–name, photo and the details of the car.
- uberPOOL will then match you with another rider near you heading in the same direction:
- That rider will either be in the car at the start of your trip, in which case you’ll see their name in advance; or
- Your driver will pick them up along the way, in which case Uber will notify you via the app.
- Whether you’re first or second into the car, Uber ensures that you’re not taken more than a few minutes out of your way.
- At the end of your trip, you’ll pay just like a normal Uber trip and receive an electronic receipt.
