Tonight (12/3) at 5PM at the downtown Des Moines Public Library, the Des Moines City Council will be discussing a proposed ordinance that could determine the future of uberX and ridesharing in Des Moines. As it stands, the city’s proposed regulations are the most restrictive in the country and would severely limit the ability for services like uberX to operate in Des Moines.

The meeting is open to the public, and we need your help to urge the Des Moines City Council to support changes to the proposed ordinance to allow services like uberX to continue to operate in the city.

HERE ARE TWO WAYS YOU CAN HELP

1. JOIN UBER SUPPORTERS TODAY (12/3) AT 4PM

The Uber team is meeting up with supporters to share stories, grab a cup of coffee and get ready for the public meeting with city officials. We’ll grab a warm beverage and head over to the meeting at the downtown public library together. Stop by to grab an “Iowans for Uber” t-shirt and show your support!

  • WHAT: Meet-Up with Uber Supporters
  • WHEN: 4:00 – 4:45pm (just before the City of Des Moines public meeting on Uber)
  • WHERE: The Temple for Performing Arts atrium (adjacent to Starbucks) at 1011 Locust St.

2. CONTACT YOUR CITY COUNCIL MEMBER

Please email or call your Council Member to tell him or her what Uber means to you and to support innovative transportation options in Des Moines.

With your help, we can educate City Council members on the importance of uberX in Des Moines and urge them to craft smart regulations that will allow ridesharing to thrive in Des Moines.

Thanks so much for your support and, as always, Uber on.
