Maryland’s First Step Towards Paving a Path for Uber

Last week the Maryland General Assembly introduced ridesharing legislation that will empower this great state with continued access to convenient, reliable rides through the Uber app, while also ensuring the greatest level of public safety.

We are incredibly excited and humbled by the General Assembly’s overwhelming support for bills SB868 and HB1231. The 26 legislators that co-sponsored these bills know just how much #MDneedsUber.

While this is a positive development in paving the path for uberX in Maryland, this is also just the beginning. We urge the state legislature to follow the lead of DC, Virginia, and the numerous other jurisdictions across the country that have enacted sensible ridesharing laws that embrace Uber’s innovative business model.

Please join us in thanking the following members by tweeting your appreciation for their leadership and support for safe, affordable transportation options and economic opportunities for all of Maryland.
