Keep Uber In Tampa

Tampa needs safe, affordable, and reliable transportation options, and Uber is dedicated to providing them. But the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission (PTC) is more interested in protecting the status quo and limiting choices. In the name of “safety,” the PTC has offered a “compromise” that would put in place a price floor of $30 and ensure it is illegal to get into a car less than 30 minutes after you need one. That’s not safety — that’s protectionism. Tampa deserves better.

Urge the PTC to get out of the way and support consumer choice. Tell them that Tampa needs Uber.

All uberX rides in Tampa are insured up to $1M per incident — over 3 times what is required of taxicabs in Tampa. Drivers must also pass a rigorous background check, which includes motor vehicle record checks as well as criminal checks at the county, state, and federal levels before they are ever allowed to access our platform. Furthermore, transparency is built into every ride requested through the Uber app. Riders are required to rate their drivers and overall ride experience upon completion of every trip, and we ensure that only the best drivers have access to our platform.
