PLEDGE TO VOTE FOR PROP. 1

Here’s why this election is so important

Thousands of Austinites earn extra income by driving with us. This proposition will help protect economic opportunity for Austin’s musicians, artists and entrepreneurs who can all afford to do the things they love because they have flexibility to make ends meet on the side by driving.

Additionally, according to the Travis County Sheriff, since we arrived in Austin, DWIs have dropped dramatically. That impacts everyone, Uber rider or no.

Last year, the Austin City Council passed new, taxi-style rules for ridesharing that would force Uber to leave town. In response, Austinites signed a petition to replace them with the same rules that have been in place for the past two years. Instead of accepting the petition and signing it into law, the city chose to call for a special election.

Voting FOR for Proposition 1 on May 7th would recall the taxi-style rules and replace them with the petition ordinance, which mandates nationwide, professional background checks for drivers, bans unqualified persons from driving—and keeps Uber in town.

As we speak, the taxi monopoly is pushing funds into a campaign against us. We cannot let them win. Together, we can make sure Austin votes FOR for Proposition 1 on May 7th.
