It’s no secret that Texans love their cars. This is widely visible by looking at commuter behavior in Dallas where there is a strong preference towards personal car use over other forms of public transportation. There are approximately 930k cars on the road in Dallas, with the number continuously climbing with our growing population, leaving us to question whether the hassle of car expenses, congestion, and limited parking is a problem that can be remedied.

With our goal to make moving around the DFW area as easy, effortless, and reliable as possible, we set out to examine the efficiency of these 930k cars to determine the impact ridesharing could have on Dallas residents’ quality of life, the environment and traffic congestion. The findings were outstanding as we determined: we can transport the same number of people with 1/4 of the cars.

By taking advantage of the Uber platform, Dallasites will be able to ditch their keys without sacrificing convenience, affordability and the safety that is often associated with car ownership. The following infographic provides a more in depth look at our analysis and the impact Uber can have on our local community.
