HELPING RIDERS

Explain the Basics to Your Riders

Some riders may not fully understand how uberPOOL works. It helps to give them an overview. Amjad shares, “I explain that uberPOOL is still taking riders from point A to B.” This helps prevent confusion—and start conversations! When he first started, Mehmed “was worried about whether or not [his] riders would get along.”

He has found that explaining the drop-off order helps his riders. Samuel does the same. “It’s easy to explain because riders won’t go too far out of their way and they can save a lot just for sharing the ride. This explanation works all the time.”

Confirm the Trip

If a rider is in a rush, they may not realize they requested an uberPOOL trip. Before starting the trip, make sure your rider knows the ride may be shared. Mehmed recommends, “When you pick up the first rider, ask if they know it is an uberPOOL trip. Also ask them if they have done it before.”

In the case of confusion, Joshua C. of Los Angeles advises, “Walk them through it and explain what’s happening. You want to give the customer the best experience possible, so try to go along with everything and explain things in a calm manner.”

Alert Your Riders About Every Stop

Communicate with your riders about the route. Zach P. of Los Angeles shares, “I always tell them when I’m picking someone else up.” Alerting riders about each pickup and drop-off keeps them in the know as you go along.
