You can now share your ride—and share the cost—with someone traveling along a similar route in Wilmington and Newark. Meet uberPOOL, a new option with fares up to 75% cheaper than uberX.

Our vision for uberPOOL is simple. We want to reduce the number of cars on the road, while providing Delawareans with transportation that’s more affordable than ever. It’s all about getting more butts into fewer cars.

HOW TO POOL

• Choose the uberX option in the app.
• Set your pickup location and your destination and tap “Request.”
• Enter the number of riders in your group—there’s a maximum of 2 riders per uberPOOL request.
• Tap “Request uberPOOL” to save money by sharing your trip with another rider heading in the same direction:
  • That person will either be in the car at the start of the trip, in which case you’ll see their name in advance; or
  • Your driver will pick them up along the way, in which case Uber will notify you via the app.
• Sit back, smile, and enjoy your savings.

With uberPOOL, there are a few key things to keep in mind before you request:

HOW IS MY FARE CALCULATED?

uberPOOL is up to 75% cheaper than uberX in Delaware. The quoted fare you’re shown before you request is guaranteed, regardless of route, time, or surge—no surprises! uberPOOL fare includes a $1.25 Booking Fee.

CAN I BRING OTHER PEOPLE?

Feel free to bring a friend! Each uberPOOL request may have a maximum of 2 riders per pickup.

CAN I CHANGE MY DESTINATION ONCE I’M IN THE CAR?

Once you enter your pickup and destination locations, you cannot change them. We use this information to match you with someone traveling a similar route.

CAN I CANCEL AFTER I’M MATCHED WITH A DRIVER?

Cancellations impact both your co-rider and your driver, so please don’t leave them hanging! If you cancel after a driver has accepted your request, you will be charged a $2 fee.

HOW LONG WITH THE DRIVER WAIT?

Please be prepared to meet your driver as soon as the car arrives. As a courtesy to your co-rider, your driver will only wait 2 minutes. If your driver has to wait for more than 2 minutes, the driver can move on without you, and you will be charged a $5 no-show fee.

WHERE IS UBERPOOL AVAILABLE?

uberPOOL is available throughout Wilmington and Newark.
