Two years ago today, Uber officially launched in the Hoosier State. So began our journey around the Circle City. In celebration of this milestone, we invite you to take a short trip with us down memory lane (see what we did there?) – and to enjoy $2 off all rides in Indianapolis today and tomorrow!

Over the past two years, both Indianapolis and Uber have experienced some exciting moments. Andrew Luck and the Colts pulled off the second-biggest comeback in NFL postseason history against the Chiefs, the JW Marriott became home to the largest sports tournament bracket in the world, and Lucas Oil Stadium played host to the NCAA Final Four. Meanwhile, Uber has grown from one rider, Rider Zero Pat McAfee, to more than 180,000 riders strong who have completed more than 1 million trips.

Between 10pm and 3am on weekends, over 70% of uberX trips originate from areas in the city with the highest concentration of bars —Downtown, Broad Ripple, and Keystone.
Our growth over the last two years would not have been possible without the thousands of driver partners who have hit the road with Uber. From full-time to part-time, single mother to retired veteran, we’re grateful for the 6,000+ driver partners who have completed a trip on the Uber platform. These are the people who move Indy every day.

“If not for physical limitations, I would have stayed in the Marine Corps until they carried my lifeless body away. Shortly after retirement, I realized I can’t do yard work every day for the rest of my life. As everyone knows, idle hands are the devils workshop, so I knew I’d better stay busy. Uber was the perfect solution.”

“I love partnering with Uber, because I’m a single mom, and it’s hard sometimes, but Uber makes it a lot easier. I don’t have to work if my daughter has stuff going on. It gives me more time to just enjoy life with my daughter and watch her grow.”
Uber Partner Since February 2014
“I was formerly a teacher and wanted to support my wife staying at home with our new baby girl. Uber gave me a chance to earn some extra income and not sacrifice time with my family.”
We’re excited about the positive impact we’ve had on the local job economy and transportation system and are looking forward to connecting the community for years to come.
Cheers to two years, Indy. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
