Getting to the airport can be a hassle for anyone and the San Diego International Airport (SAN) is no exception. With 20 million passengers traveling in 2015 alone, you want to be as prepared as possible when going to the airport. One way to ease the stress of getting to your flight on time is to take an Uber in San Diego. Why bother with expensive long-term parking or navigating traffic when you could simply use Uber, care-free?
Here are a few other helpful tips that will make your next trip to SAN successful:
Resources for San Diego International Airport
- Uber Airport Page: For all of the information you’ll need on requesting a ride, simply head over to SAN’s Uber airport page. Once you’ve selected your vehicle, indicate whether you are located at Terminal 1 or 2. If you are using a low cost option such as uberX or uberPOOL then you will meet your driver at the posted sign that reads “App-Enabled Rideshare Services.” However, if you’re using UberBLACK or UberSUV, then you will meet your driver curbside after you’ve told them which door and terminal you are located at. Of course, if any of this is too confusing, don’t hesitate to contact your driver.
- Terminal Map: Get to know the lay of the land. Before heading out, you should always get familiarized with a map of the terminals.
- Traffic Report: For the latest traffic conditions on the road, tune into KFMB 760 AM. Should there be congestion around the airport, you can search for alternate routes on Google Maps.
- TSA Guidelines: Save precious time at security by getting caught up on the latest TSA Guidelines.
- Security Wait Times: Speaking of the TSA, you’ll find the wait times for each security checkpoint here.
- News: For all of the latest news and construction updates coming from SAN, you can follow them on Twitter.
- Flight Status: Flights can be delayed, so be sure to check your flight status before leaving for the airport.
Where to Visit in San Diego
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident of San Diego, here are a few places you should check out in town:
- Stone Brewery – While you’ll find Stone Brewing‘s infamous Tap Rooms throughout San Diego, you should really make the pilgrimage over to their headquarters in Escondido. You can take a free tour of the brewery which ends with a beer tasting, but best of all, you can visit the brewpub where you can try some of their classic (and super rare) beers all while tasting delicious duck tacos.
- San Diego Zoo: All animal-lovers need to visit the San Diego Zoo, one of the biggest and perhaps best zoos in the world. With over 3,700 animals on display, they’re one of the only zoos around that breeds and houses giant pandas. Strolling through the incredible natural habitats spread throughout their 100 acres makes for the perfect family day trip.
- The Crack Shack: Celebrity chef and Top Chef judge Richard Blais’s Crack Shack serves up some of the finest fried chicken in San Diego. And like any other essential restaurant in the area, the Little Italy outpost pours some of the city’s best craft beer. You’ll enjoy a bevy of fried chicken sandwiches along with miso-maple biscuits and deviled eggs. You can even play a few rounds of bocce while you’re here.
