- Hen of the Wood: Originally opened in Waterbury in the Hotel Vermont, this second location for Hen of the Wood still serves the same locally curated, snout-to-tail James Beard-nominated cuisine. The menu changes almost daily, but what their chefs do with meat can only be described as divine. The perfectly cooked and charred aged steaks are where it’s at, but if they happen to be serving any dish involving head cheese, you have to get it.
- Birds of Vermont Museum: The Birds of Vermont Museum is an odd little gem that can be found outside of Burlington. The museum features over 500 woodcarvings of birds that have been crafted by hand and are biologically accurate, most by master woodcarver and Vermont naturalist Bob Spear. The museum itself also sits on a 100-acre bird sanctuary, perfect for bird-watching and a picnic.
