We couldn’t be more jazzed to expand our services in NOLA — just in time for festival season’s main event!
Starting today, you can catch a ride from a second line in Central City to dinner in the French Quarter. Whether you are headed Uptown or Downtown, to Gentilly, Algiers and anywhere in between – simply request an uberX or uberXL from your phone and enjoy the ride.

RIDER ZERO: KERMIT RUFFINS
Local trumpeter, singer, and entertainer extraordinaire Kermit Ruffins is synonymous with the New Orleans spirit of laissez les bons temps rouler. Whether he’s playing a gig on Frenchman or elsewhere in world, Kermit is constantly on the move bringing New Orleans style jazz to audiences everywhere. Kermit loves using uberX in other cities, now he can enjoy uberX in his hometown. After requesting a pickup from Bullet’s Sports Bar, driver-partner Joe arrived in minutes to take Kermit to his Mother-in-Law Lounge to relax before the official release party for his new record tomorrow night. Uber couldn’t be more excited to connect New Orleanians like Kermit (and visitors too) with safe, reliable, and affordable rides.
What is uberX and uberXL?
Our low-cost, ridesharing options – providing you with an on-demand transportation service at affordable rates. Our uberX driver partners have mid-range or hybrid vehicles in a variety of colors and styles, with seating for up to four passengers. Our uberXL driver partners have vehicles with seating for up to six passengers. To maintain the Uber standard you expect, all driver partners must undergo Uber’s rigorous screening process including:
- A stringent background check
- A driving history check
- Ongoing quality controls
We are committed to the safety of everyone using Uber. All Uber rides are backed by our insurance policy, and you will always have the option to rate your driver to help ensure the highest quality experience.
