You’ve mastered the mint julep and chosen your Derby pick, now all that’s left to figure out is how to get to the track. With Derby Week upon us, Uber is the most convenient and reliable way to get you to and from Churchill Downs.

With over 150,000 people coming into town this weekend alone, we’re working around the clock to increase the number of cars on the road. Here are a few extra tips that will help you secure a seamless Uber experience for Derby day:

A PERFECT PICKUP

Trying to get picked up or dropped off right around the track can be harder than picking the Derby winner. We’re asking all drivers pick up and drop off riders at 4th Avenue between Central and Heywood. This will save you from waiting in endless traffic while also giving you some time to enjoy one more Mint Julep.

A BUSY WEEKEND

Did we mention there’s more than 150,000 people coming into town? With increased demand surge pricing will most likely be in effect. As always, you’ll be notified of any increase in rates before you request you ride, and you can always use surge drop to get notified when rates go back down.

BE PERSISTENT

If you can’t get a ride on your first try for any reason, don’t give up! Cars will free up constantly making more rides available over time. We’ll also have both uberX and UberBLACK up and running, so if one is unavailable, give the other a shot.

CALL YOUR DRIVER

With this kind of crowd, a seamless connection with your driver can sometimes be tough. It’s best to give them a quick call and clearly communicate your pickup location (and maybe even what you’re wearing—i.e. pink dress, yellow hat with giant feathers) so they can arrive quickly and avoid unnecessary traffic. And don’t forget: a driver’s route to get to you may seem a bit odd, but they’re most likely working through crowds and traffic barriers.

PATIENCE PAYS OFF
