We’re honored to highlight Metro Atlanta driver-partners that consistently go above and beyond to offer excellent service. Our September spotlight features Tanya, who’s completed close to 2,000 trips on the Uber platform while maintaining a stellar 4.86 rating! Tanya also recently re-located to Atlanta to follow her dreams to pursue acting.

“I moved to Atlanta in January after spending 28 years as a preschool teacher in San Francisco. With Uber, I had an instant way to make money as soon as I got to town, and for the first time in my life, I feel free! I’m my own boss and I love it.

Because of Uber, I was able to travel out of town for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I was able to ship my car back to ATL and buy my plane ticket. “

As a former teacher, Tanya often finds herself offering motivational advice to riders.

“I always hear riders say, ‘It was meant for me to get in your car and hear what you have to say.’ A lot of them call me ‘Ms. Tanya’ before the trip is over.

I once picked up a young lady who was struggling to start her own business, and I told her my story of moving out here to become an actress after almost 30 years of teaching. Before the trip was over, we had motivated each other to keep reaching for our goals!

On another trip, I picked up a woman who told me she’d recently become homeless. I offered her some of the snacks I had in the car, and she burst into tears and thanked me because she was so hungry. Experiences like that motivate me to be kind and compassionate to all my riders.”

Tanya also finds herself networking with members of ATL’s growing entertainment industry as well.

“It’s always fun to meet new, interesting people. A few weeks ago, I picked up three guys who were working on a new movie in town. When I told them I was trying to become an actress, they took my card and said they’d keep me in mind for their current production.

You never know who you’re going to pick up. There’s no shortage of producers, actors, actresses, rappers, and singers who are using Uber to get around ATL. I’ve had several musical artists put on their own songs in my car during the trip, which is always fun.”

Thanks to Tanya for sharing her experiences. We are proud that Tanya and so many other driver-partners make an important difference out on the roads and in our communities in Georgia every single day.
