Mayor Daniel Guerrero and Chief of Police Chase Stapp, both San Marcos natives and Texas State University graduates, marked the official launch of uberX as San Marcos’ Riders Zero.
“I am excited about Uber’s entrance into the San Marcos alternative transportation market. While I have been pleased with the transportation options currently available to our citizens, additional options for our residents and visitors is not only a great idea, but one that contributes to our goal of reducing the number of intoxicated drivers on the streets,” said Police Chief Chase Stapp.
“The City Council and I are very pleased we were able to work with Uber officials, Police Chief Stapp, and city staff on a transportation networking company ordinance that not only keeps our residents and visitors safe, but brings innovative transportation solutions to our community, and is a model for other communities open to ridesharing companies,” said Mayor Daniel Guerrero.
