We’ve proudly partnered with United Way of the Greater Dayton Area to support the Read On! Dayton Region Book Drive by collecting new PreK to 3rd grade reading level books through the Uber app.

Reading at grade level by the 3rd grade is the leading indicator of academic success and high school graduation. Now, helping to make sure that every child in Dayton has access to good books is as easy as requesting an Uber.

Read below for details on how you can request an Uber free of charge to pick up your new (preferred) or gently used children’s books this Wednesday.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • This week, collect new (preferred) or gently-used Pre-K to 3rd grade reading level books for donation.
  • On Wednesday, April 6, open your Uber app between 11am – 2pm.
  • Choose BOOKS at the bottom of your screen and hit request.
  • A car will arrive free of charge to pick up your books to donate them to Read On!

CAN’T DONATE ON WEDNESDAY?

Enter promo code READONDAY in the Uber app and take an Uber trip this Wednesday between 8am and 8pm. Once the trip is completed, Uber Dayton will donate one book to Read On!*

You can also always donate through the Read On! Donation page or drop off new books at  Project READ or any Dayton Metro Library location by April 15th.

ABOUT READ ON!

All collected books will be delivered to Project READ, an agency collaborating on the Read On! Initiative. The Read On! initiative was started to help PreK to 3rd grade students in low-income schools reduce summer learning loss and help maintain their reading skills over summer break. The ‘Read On! Dayton Region Book Drive’ will run through April 15th.
