Premium Ride Updates in Detroit and Ann Arbor

We’re making premium rides available in more places across Detroit and Ann Arbor

As of September 24, the premium ride option you see depends on where you request your ride:

• Downtown Detroit, Birmingham, and Royal Oak: Uber Black and Black SUV will continue to be available.
• Other areas across Detroit: Premier and Premier SUV will become your premium ride options.
• Washtenaw County, including Ann Arbor: Premier and Premier SUV are launching, bringing premium ride options to the area.

What to expect with Premier in Detroit and Ann Arbor

Premier is designed to provide a high-quality ride experience with:

• Luxury vehicles: Ride in premium vehicles that meet the same vehicle eligibility standards as Uber Black and Black SUV.
• Highly rated drivers: Premier and Premier SUV drivers maintain a minimum 4.9-star rating.
• More ways to get a premium ride: Premier trips may be fulfilled by professional, commercially licensed drivers or other eligible drivers with qualifying premium vehicles, helping expand premium ride availability across more areas.

Uber Black trips will continue to be provided exclusively by eligible professional, commercially licensed drivers in Downtown Detroit, Birmingham, and Royal Oak.

Having more eligible premium drivers can help make premium rides easier to find across the Detroit area, while bringing premium ride options to more places, including Washtenaw County.
