Costumes are planned, your parade schedule is set, and thousands are coming in ready to celebrate the best time of the year here in New Orleans. Check out our Mardi Gras ride guide for info and tips to make sure you get a 5-star ride all Carnival season long.

“THE BOX”

It’s not about where you are, but where you’re going! When leaving the parades, road closures will make it difficult for driver partners to cross St Charles Ave to get you to your end destination. Follow these tips to make sure you don’t get stuck on the wrong side.

  • Want to head somewhere “in the box”? Request in the box. Sample end destinations: Canal St below Rampart, CBD,  Lower Garden District
  • For end destinations outside of the box, head outside of the box to request. Sample End Destinations: French Quarter, Uptown University Area, Bywater, Mid-City, anywhere else!

“The Box” is the area between St. Charles Ave. to Tchoupitoulas St. and Jefferson Ave. to Canal St. Coordinate with your driver to ensure the best pickup location.

PROTIP: Head a few blocks away from St Charles Ave before requesting.

MARDI GRAS PRO TIPS

Surge Pricing shouldn’t be a surprise. Get a Fare Estimate in the app before you ride. To avoid the highest fares, head to the festivities early or catch a ride after the parades have come and gone.

Use fare split if you’re rolling with the whole krewe. uberX can seat groups up to 4, while uberXL can handle parties up to 6 passengers.

Due to road closures around the parade route, we recommend that you call or text your driver through the app to coordinate the best pickup location.  Confirm your driver’s car model and license plate in the app before you hop in your ride.

Be nice or leave

Mardi Gras should be a fun time for all so please be considerate to your driver and follow our Code of Conduct so that everyone can enjoy the spirit of the season and every ride meets our standards for respect and common courtesy. For more tips, check out our blog post based on feedback from New Orleans driver partners.
