Our guide to Houston’s craft brewery scene
International Beer Day first started nine years ago in Santa Cruz, California and is now celebrated around the world. Houston is no stranger to craft beer—last year we partnered with Saint Arnold, Texas’ oldest craft brewery, to provide safe rides and benefit a local charity. To help you celebrate International Beer Day responsibly, we partnered with a few of the best breweries across Greater Houston. Uber to any of these taprooms this weekend to unlock exclusive perks for riders—just show your Uber receipt when you arrive.

They plan to have five year-round beers, along with a taproom exclusive brew. The brewery has a state-of-the-art pilot system that brews seasonal and one-off batches on a smaller scale, which allows for a continual rotation of new beers. The 2,000 square foot taproom is the first of its kind in the Pearland area.
SAINT ARNOLD | 2000 Lyons Ave., Northside

Perk: Friday – $2 off Classic Beer Tasting | Saturday – $2 off tour admission
uberX fare from Montrose: $7-10
The first keg from Saint Arnold, Texas’ oldest craft brewery, was shipped back in June of 1994 when Houston was the largest city in the country without a craft brewery. Brock Wagner, an avid home brewer, sought to change that with the opening of Saint Arnold. More than 20 years later, the brewery is still like a small family in many ways. The brewery moved into its current facility overlooking downtown Houston seven years ago. Inside the German-style beer hall you’ll find what many call the best french fries in the city.
UNDER THE RADAR | 1506 Truxillo St., Midtown

Perk: $2 off their $15 package, including three beers and a pint glass
uberX fare from the Heights: $11-15
Midtown’s only brewery will be celebrating its grand opening later this month, but is open each Saturday and Sunday leading up to the launch. The expansive front patio lends itself to lazy Saturdays enjoying Under The Radar’s small batch, high quality, and innovative brews like Radar Love and Mid Frequency IPA.
KARBACH BREWING | 2032 Karbach St., Spring Branch

Perk: Free koozie
uberX fare from Midtown: $13-17
In just five years, Karbach Brewing has become a staple of Houston’s craft beer scene. Owners Ken and Chuck started their own beer distribution company in the early ’80s and jumped on the opportunity to open their own brewery in 2010. Karbach Brewing is open seven days a week, with tours, tastings, and an on-site restaurant. Make sure to check out their staples like Staycation and Love Street when you visit. Karbachtoberfest, Karbach’s take on Oktoberfest, kicks off September 22nd and runs every Thursday through Sunday until October 16th.
CITY ACRE | 3418 Topping St., North Houston

Perk: 20% off any entree
uberX fare from Midtown: $13-17
City Acre Brewing, which opened its doors in early July, is of the newest breweries to the area. It occupies an acre of land about ten minutes from downtown. Owners Matt and Meredith looked to achieve a backyard feel while still being in the middle of the city. The fruit trees growing on the land are used in their on-site restaurant as well as the brewing process. Between three and five beers are available at any given time along with their favorites from other local breweries. Their patio is the perfect spot for a weekend brunch.
NO LABEL BREWING CO. | 5351 1st St., Katy

Perk: Free koozie
uberX fare from Citycentre: $18-25; fare split with friends to make your ride even more affordable!
Located next to an abandoned rice silo in Old Town Katy is No Label Brewing. The nearly six-year-old brewery is one of the most dog-friendly and kid-friendly breweries in the area. On Mondays and Tuesdays, teachers get $1 off, and on Thursday nights they host a yoga session. No Label Brewing likes to think of itself as a backyard party with some of its closest friends.
11 BELOW | 6820 Bourgeois Rd., Willowbrook

Perk: Free koozie
uberX fare from Acres Homes: $12-15
A barrel of crude oil is 42 gallons, while a barrel of beer is 31 gallons. Three former homebrewers paid homage to their past work in the oil and gas industry by naming their brewery 11 Below. Their American Amber is brewed for Houston’s summers and the session ale, 7-Iron, is refreshing and easy to drink when it’s especially hot. A limited release of Negative Space, an imperial chocolate milk stout, makes its way to Houston pubs every November 11.
