Headed to the Kentucky Derby™ this weekend? Use these tips to make getting to and from Churchill Downs a sure bet:

• Request to be picked up at a road or intersection that is open and easily accessible. Requesting a pickup on or around any roads that are closed due to the races will prevent your driver from reaching you.
• Give yourself extra time.
  Heavy traffic and detours around the racetrack may lead to higher-than-expected ETAs.
• Request to be picked up away from the crowds.
  Heavy crowds make connecting with your driver difficult. Check out one of our recommended pickup zones below instead.
• Make sure your pickup location matches where you actually want to be picked up.
  Limited cell service due to heavy crowds increase the chances that your app will default to thinking you’re somewhere you’re not.

MAKE IT A WINNING PICK UP

After a few mint juleps, the night might get blurry. Keep your ride crystal clear by following these steps:

• Confirm your driver. Call your driver if needed, and double check his or her name and license plate number before you go.
• No IOUs. Fare split your ride with friends and pay just a fraction of the total cost (we’ll even do the math for you)!

During this time, dynamic pricing will automatically go into effect to encourage more driver-partners to get out on the road. As demand goes down and more cars free up, the rates will go back to normal.

SO HOW DOES DYNAMIC PRICING WORK?

Dynamic (or surge) pricing helps Uber stay reliable. You’ll always be notified in BIG, BOLD print if dynamic pricing is in effect. The dynamic confirmation screen requires you to type in the multiplier to ensure you know what to expect.

NO SURPRISES

Use the Fare Quote option in the Uber app to estimate your fare before you make your request. If dynamic pricing is in effect, your fare quote will always take the current rates into account.

Before you request, keep your party size in mind:

• Riding with a total of up to 4 passengers? Request uberX or uberSELECT.
