Del Mar Racing – Opening Day Tips

Del Mar Opening Day is upon us.  Here are a few pointers to make your day at the races a winner!

Pickup & Drop Off Location

Due to heavy traffic congestion around the racetrack, we recommend that Uber pickups and dropoffs occur at the Del Mar Fire Department (2200 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, CA 92014), located 200 yards south of the Main Gates. You are also more than welcome to get dropped off closer to the Main Gate. However, please keep in mind that we charge based on distance as well as time.  These time rates, charged on a per minute basis when you’re traveling under 11 MPH (stuck in traffic!) are: $.40 for uberX, $.75 for UberBLACK and $1.00 for UberSUV.

Surge pricing is in effect for Del Mar Opening Day. The price will increase in order to maximize the number of cars on the road during peak times – and automatically decrease when there are enough cars on the road. We do this to make sure Uber is always a reliable ride!

No Surprises

So that there are no surprises, we’ve worked hard to provide clear price notifications when surge pricing is in effect. You will be able to estimate the fare prior to requesting a ride in your iPhone or Android app. All riders will need to accept the fare multiplier that will be applied to their actual fare prior to finalizing a request. For example, if your actual fare is $30, and Surge Pricing is currently 2.0x, your total fare will be $60.
