Keeping Portland Safe this St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s day is coming around the bend, and with it comes fun, food, and festivities. That’s why Uber is urging St. Paddy’s Day revelers to plan ahead for the most important part of the night: the ride home.
It’s no secret that drunk-driving incidents spike around St. Patrick’s Day in Oregon. Oregon State Police reported 36 DUI arrests and 3 fatalities during this time last year, and over the course of 2015, there were 105 drunk-driving fatalities in Oregon — a 19.3% increase from the year before.
WE CAN CHANGE THIS
Studies show that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that can save lives. With Uber, a ride home is just the touch of a button away, and we’re committed to playing our part in making our roads safer for everyone.
That’s why we partnered with TriMet to ring in 2016, and it’s why this St. Patrick’s Day, Uber is partnering with Families for Safe Streets and Paddy’s Bar and Grill (among others) to help education Portland residents about alternatives to drinking and driving like Uber.
