SOAR Program

SOAR is a management trainee program within APAC Community Operations for graduates with less than 2 years of professional work experience. Participants have the opportunity to work in different roles across strategy, operations and analytics on a rotational basis during an 18 month period, gaining a broad range of skills foundational to a career at Uber.

Soaring to success: Nora's growing as a management trainee at Uber

Launched in 2023, SOAR (Strategy, Operations, Analytics Rotational) is a management trainee program within APAC Community Operations designed to help recent graduates gain a broad range of skills foundational to a career at Uber. Nora Yao joined SOAR’s inaugural program in Taiwan, completing two rotations on our earner identity and access, payments, and risk teams. Throughout she’s had the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, engage with stakeholders across the APAC region, deliver presentations to senior leadership, and experience significant personal and professional growth.

We sat down with Nora to learn about the highlights of her experience on the SOAR program and what she has learned during her time with Uber so far.

Kat’s career is soaring at Uber

Based in the Philippines, Kat Santos is mid-way through SOAR, our 18-month management trainee program for university graduates to develop leadership skills working with teams across Community Operations, our team supporting all-things customer care.

How we hire

Apply online

Applications open in May each year, keep an eye on our careers site or register your interest and we will let you know when applications are open

Screening

Our specialist University recruiting team will reach out to you to request you to submit an essay application (written or video) and ask you to complete an analytics assessment test

Interview

You will be invited to a virtual interview with our hiring team from different business functions across Community Operations. During the interview you will be asked a series of questions to assess your potential

Case-study

You will be asked to prepare and present a case-study to address a real-life business scenario where your problem-solving skills will be assessed

Final interview

You will have the opportunity to meet with a senior leader from Community Operations during which you will able to ask any other questions you might have

Offer

Final results of your application will be received during July, with offers extended for an August start

Looking forward

Since piloting the program in 2022 in the Philippines, the SOAR program has expanded to Taiwan in 2023 with plans to expand to additional countries across APAC in the near future.

SOAR program participants gain valuable exposure, skills and experience to prepare them to become the future leaders of Community Operations across APAC.

FAQ

  • Community Operations are responsible for building our customer service network. Our teams strive towards developing a world-class support organization that scales effectively, is reliable and consistent, and provides unmatched service to our Uber community.

  • We welcome graduates with less than 1 year of professional experience to apply, fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

  • GPA scores will not be the deciding factor in the selection of applicants. We are seeking candidates with high potential in leadership and a strong inclination toward problem solving. This may be demonstrated through extracurricular activities, participation in projects or internships and experience on-campus or off-campus.

  • We do not expect fresh graduates to have any functional experience for any of the business functions involved in the program. This program is meant to provide you with the required functional expertise during your immersion in each business function.

  • The SOAR program is currently available in the Philippines and Taiwan, with plans to expand across APAC in the near future.

  • The SOAR program is an 18-month program during which you will spend 6 months in each rotation within different functions across Community Operations.

  • Applications are open from May each year, with rotations starting in August.

  • Participants will be hired as full-time employees right at the start of the program. You will be able to enjoy the benefits of full-time employees during the 18-month immersion. Following completion of the program, you will have gained valuable skills and will be eligible for a permanent position with Uber.
