Navigate from your Tesla display
Make the most of your big screen by connecting the Uber app to your Tesla.*
Products and availability may vary. Check your Driver app to see what’s available near you. *This feature is currently only available for Teslas that are owner-operated. Rentals are not eligible to connect to the Driver app in the Tesla display.
Clear and convenient
Enjoy bigger and bolder navigation. Once you accept a trip request on your phone, pick-up and drop-off info will be sent to your Tesla screen automatically.
Less range anxiety
When you connect the Uber app to your Tesla, you can enable battery-aware matching so you'll only see trip requests within your Tesla's battery range.
Easy one-time set-up
After the initial set-up, navigation instructions will be shown on your Tesla display for each trip.
For navigation
- Before setting up Tesla navigation, make sure you have the Tesla app installed on your phone and that you are signed in using your Tesla credentials.
- Ensure you’re using the latest Uber Driver app (version 4.487.10000 or above). You can update the app from the Google Play Store app.
- Make sure your Tesla is selected as your primary vehicle on the Uber Driver app. You can do this from Menu > Account > Vehicles
- Then go to Menu > Account > App Settings > Navigation in the Uber Driver app
- Select Tesla Navigation as your primary navigation
- You’ll be redirected to your Tesla app to approve third party access for uber.com. If you have trouble with
- Use the app as normal When you accept your next trip and start navigation, the destination information will be automatically shared to your Tesla display.
For battery-aware matching
- Go to Menu > Account > Vehicles
- Under Eligible Vehicles, select the Connect button next to your Tesla
- On the next screen, select Continue to Tesla
- Sign in to your Tesla account to grant Smartcar and the Uber app access, then select Next.
- Tick the boxes next to Vehicle Information and Vehicle Commands, and select Allow
To set up navigation and battery-aware matching
- Ensure you’re using the latest Uber Driver app (version 4.477.10000 or above). You can update the app from the App Store.
- Make sure your Tesla is selected as your primary vehicle on the Uber Driver app. You can do this from Menu > Account > Vehicles
- Go to Menu > Account > Vehicles
- Under Eligible Vehicles, select the Connect button next to your Tesla
- On the next screen, select Continue to Tesla
- Sign in to your Tesla account to grant Smartcar and the Uber app access, then select Next.
- Tick the boxes next to Vehicle Information and Vehicle Commands, and select Allow. If you have trouble with this step, you can also set up your virtual key here.
- Return to the Uber Driver app to use the Tesla car display for navigation.
