RTD Access on Demand with Uber
The Regional Transit District’s Access-on-Demand programme offers eligible Access-a-Ride customers another convenient way to travel by providing subsidised, kerb-to-kerb journeys through the Uber app.
Instead of booking every journey in advance through traditional paratransit, eligible customers can request an Uber ride when they need one, offering greater flexibility for work, medical appointments, shopping, social activities, and other everyday travel. Access-on-Demand is designed to complement, not replace, RTD's Access-a-Ride service by providing an on-demand, same-day service option.
Programme highlights
Eligible RTD Access-on-Demand riders can enjoy a convenient, flexible way to travel with Uber.
- Up to 60 subsidised trips per month across all participating Access-on-Demand providers.
- Curb-to-curb transport with the convenience of requesting a ride through the Uber app.
- Service throughout the RTD service area during Access-a-Ride operating hours (service is unavailable between 1:30am and 3:30am).
- Simple, affordable pricing: Riders pay a $4.50 standard fare or $2.25 for LiVE fares. Riders under 19 pay no base fare but are responsible for any costs exceeding the subsidy limit.
- RTD subsidises up to $20 per eligible trip. Once the rider fare is paid, the subsidy is automatically applied at checkout. If a trip exceeds the subsidy amount, the rider pays the remaining balance.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I am eligible for this programme?
If you have any questions about eligibility for the programme, please call RTD directly on 303-299-6560 or email paratransiteligibility@rtd-denver.com and a support agent will clarify this for you.
I have enrolled in the programme, but I am not seeing the discount.
If your RTD Access-on-Demand voucher is active, you’ll see the discounted fare displayed with the original price crossed out (strikethrough pricing) on the trip request screen. If you don’t see the discount:
- Verify your voucher is in your Wallet. In the Uber app, go to Account → Wallet → Vouchers and confirm your RTD Access-on-Demand voucher is listed and active.
- Check your payment settings. On the trip request screen, make sure both your RTD Access-on-Demand voucher and your personal payment method are selected. Your personal payment method is required to cover any rider fare or costs that exceed the voucher amount.
- Confirm you’re using the correct Uber account. Your voucher is only available in the Uber account associated with the email address you used during RTD enrolment.
If your voucher is active but still isn’t being applied, review our Beginner’s Guide to Uber Vouchers for Transit Agency Riders or contact Uber support.
The fares seem to fluctuate. What is this dynamic pricing?
Uber’s fares are dynamically priced. This means that the fare a rider sees is based on variables that may change over time. These variables include (but are not limited to) the estimated time and distance of the predicted route, estimated traffic, and the number of riders and drivers using Uber at any given moment. Dynamic fares help ensure that riders can always get a quick pickup by matching the supply of drivers with the demand from riders. Dynamic pricing may cause fares to temporarily increase. This encourages more drivers to get on the road and head to areas of the city where demand for rides is higher than drivers’ ability to accommodate all the ride requests happening at any time. When fares are higher due to dynamic pricing, riders will see the actual fare before they request a ride.
Can I use Uber if I am blind or have low vision?
With VoiceOver iOS and wireless braille display compatibility, the Uber app makes it easier for riders who are blind to get from A to B at the touch of a button.
What is Uber’s service animal policy?
State and federal law prohibit driver-partners using the Uber Driver App from denying service to riders with assistance animals because of the assistance animals, and from otherwise discriminating against riders with assistance animals. As explained in Uber’s Non-Discrimination Policy, driver-partners who engage in discriminatory conduct in violation of this legal obligation will lose their ability to use the Driver App.
How do I make a Title VI discrimination complaint?
Uber is committed to providing access to inclusive, reliable, and high-quality service options to everyone. If you believe you have experienced discrimination while using the Uber app or during your trip, you can report the incident through the Uber app or learn more about Uber's Non-Discrimination Policy on our website.
If your complaint relates to the RTD Access-on-Demand programme, you should also file a Title VI complaint directly with RTD.
