When should I go to the local Uber office to collect my lost item?

The easiest and quickest way to retrieve an item you’ve left behind is to arrange a time and place for the return of the item directly with the driver, and we strongly encourage you to try this first. If this isn’t possible, and the driver brings the item to the office, we’ll send a confirmation (email, message) to you as soon as the driver drops off your item.

Please wait for this confirmation from us to ensure your item is here at your arrival and you don’t make a wasted journey. If you come into the office without having received a confirmation message from us, we are not able to guarantee that your item will be here.

What do I need to bring with me in order to collect my lost item?

You will also need to bring the original copy of one of the following government ID documents:

  • Driving licence
  • Passport
  • National ID
  • National healthcare card

Note: the ID presented must be in the name of the account holder. We cannot accept Oyster cards, work IDs, educational IDs and bank cards as a form of ID. Passcodes and fingerprints on phones are also not accepted, physical ID is required. Photocopies and digital copies are also not accepted as a form of ID.

My lost item is in the office but the trip was not booked on my account, can I still collect my item ?

Uber classes anything left in an Uber as the account holder’s property, which means that we are only able to hand the lost item back to the account holder unless given direct instructions by the account holder to do otherwise.

How can the account holder give you further instructions ?

The account holder, who booked the trip, must send an email via the ‘Help’ section in the app, providing us with the full name of the person who will be picking up the lost item on their behalf, and confirming that they consent to this.

Note: the person designated by the account holder must present a form of government ID from the above list to confirm their identity.

To sign in via the website: The account holder can also sign in via https://help.uber.com/ and send the message.

Sign in > Trip and fare review > select the trip that you have lost your item on >  I lost an item > I couldn’t reach my driver about a lost item > input the information requested

What are your opening times ?

For office addresses and opening hours please select your city below:

Belfast | Birmingham | Bristol & Bath | Cheshire West & Chester | Leeds | London | Manchester | Merseyside & Liverpool | Newcastle | Portsmouth | Southampton | Stoke | Wolverhampton

I don’t have ID on me and I won’t be able to come back and collect my item. What can be done?

Without ID we are unable to hand over any lost items.

Can a courier be arranged to collect my lost item on my behalf?

No, Uber is not able to arrange a courier to deliver the item.

Can I arrange for someone else to collect my item?

Yes. The account holder is free to pick a trusted person to collect the item on their behalf. In order for your trusted person to collect your item, you first need to contact Uber through the help section of your app and give details of the trusted person, including their full name, and your written permission for them to collect the item on your behalf. When the person comes to collect the item, they must provide the full details of the account holder including name, email and/or phone number, along with an ID for themselves and the account holder.

How long do you store all lost items?

All lost items are stored for 6 months in London and for 30 days in the rest of UK and Ireland.

What do you do with the lost items after 6 months?

If a lost item has not been claimed after 6 months, the majority of items are given to charity. Anything that cannot be donated is disposed of.
