Safety first
Safety is at the heart of our autonomous future. Uber's Autonomous Mobility and Delivery Safety Programme ensures consistent standards for evaluating, testing, and operating AVs across our platform.
The AV experience
To increase your chances of matching with an autonomous vehicle, open your Uber app and go to Account > Settings > Ride Preferences > Autonomous vehicles and toggle on the preference. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Uber app.
When AVs first arrive in your city, some rides may have a specialist in the driver’s seat to monitor the trip and help ensure a smooth experience.
