uberFAMILY: For Parents On The Go

Being a parent in a big city like Istanbul is no easy task, especially when it comes to travelling with young children. With that in mind, Uber is here to make your life easier with uberFAMILY, the on-demand car seat option for parents on the go.

Starting today, with the touch of a button, you can get around the city with your child safely buckled up.

What’s the car model?  When you request an uberFAMILY an uberXL equipped with a toddler car seat will arrive. You’ll be riding in a minivan similar to Mercedes-Benz Vito or Volkswagen Caravell.

How’s the pricing? uberFAMILY rates are similar to uberXL, with an additional surcharge of 10 TL. You can see the upfront fare in the app.

Is my child eligible for uberFAMILY? uberFAMILY provides one car seat for a child between ages approx. 9 months-4 years old and weighs between 9-18 kg. You can find more information about the Maxi-Cosi Tobi car seats on this link.

Will there be car seat options for other child groups? For our pilot launch we’ve included only the most popular car seat category in uberFAMILY – the toddler seat. According to demand, we aim to extend our options to offer other types of car seats that is suitable for different child age / weight categories  as well.

Update: As of March 10th 2017, riders will see a 10 TL surcharge for each uberFAMILY ride. This fee is intended to improve the reliability and quality of service for our uberFAMILY product.
