This Father’s Day, we’re highlighting the phenomenal work done by the thousands of fathers using the Uber platform to help provide for their families. Every day, thousands of dads log onto the Uber platform to be able to do better for their sons and daughters. We were inspired by one such story of Waheed, a veteran rickshaw driver who saw, in Uber, an opportunity to help drastically improve the quality of education his children were able to receive.
How long have you been a partner with the Uber platform?
I’ve been driving with Uber for 9 months, since the launch of uberAUTO.
How did you hear about Uber?
I was one of the first uberAUTO partners to sign up, when approached by the Uber Pakistan team at the railway station, I immediately was given a smartphone and got my account registered.
What do you like the most about the Uber platform?
I love everything about it, not only has the app completely changed my life, the Uber team has helped me every step of the way since the day I signed up. The platform has earned my loyalty, and I have been able to create a better home and hope for the future for my family.
How did your partnering with Uber help your children?
It didn’t just help my children but my entire household. Before Uber I couldn’t afford the smallest things. For example, on Eid I had to choose two out of four of my children to buy new clothes for. The other two had to wait for next Eid. I couldn’t afford to buy books and uniforms for all of them so I chose to put my sons in school first. Uber has helped me earn enough to be able to pay tuition fee for all of my children, now we can celebrate Eid without worrying about the cost. We haven’t had a single day when we had to worry about food; since I’ve joined Uber.
Tell us more about your family, what are your hopes and ambitions for them? How are you hoping to help them achieve their goals?
My eldest son wants to become an engineer, and my daughter wants to become a doctor. The other two of my children are still too young to decide; that’s fine they can do whatever they want, their father can and will support it. I am very excited I can imagine the day my children graduate; better and more qualified than I am. I will be the happiest, most accomplished man ever.
We at Uber Pakistan are so proud of the work done by dedicated partners and fathers like, Waheed. So this Father’s Day, remember to thank your father for all his love and hard work.
