Driving in Canada
Resources for partners
We want every trip with Uber to be enjoyable and safe for everyone. These ground rules are designed to ensure that riders and drivers have a five star ride.
Staying safe on the road
Compliance with the law
We expect drivers using the Uber app to act in compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and municipal laws and the rules of the road at all times. This includes meeting the regulatory requirements to drive with Uber in your area.
Uber may permanently deactivate your account for activities such as: engaging in serious illegal activity while using the Uber app; not maintaining valid vehicle registration or driver's licence; and receiving serious traffic citations, or several traffic citations that indicate unsafe driving, while using the Uber app.
In addition to using our technology to improve road safety, we’re working with Share the Road to raise awareness of best practices to help make our streets safer.
Accidents and emergencies
You can use the in-app emergency button to call authorities to get help if you need it. The app displays your location and trip details, so you can quickly share them with emergency services. If you have been involved in an accident, please follow these steps:
- Check that all parties involved are safe.
- Notify police and paramedics if necessary.
- Contact us.
Preventing impaired driving
Impaired driving is one of the main causes of road crashes worldwide. In collaboration with advocacy groups and local celebrities, we support awareness and prevention campaigns that encourage people to make safer choices.
