John Wayne Airport

Instructions for driver-partners

Riders at SNA can request Uber when leaving the airport. Learn how to receive these trip requests and cash in on the action.

Rules and regulations

SNA regulations for Uber partners

Both dropoffs and pickups are currently permitted for both commercial and non-commercial vehicles. Please see below for information about picking up at John Wayne Airport (SNA).

  • The Uber vehicle decal (trade dress) must always be displayed on the front passenger windshield and rear passenger windshield facing outward. Driver-partners can obtain this Uber decal at their local Greenlight Hub.
  • No airport permit is necessary for non-commercial vehicles.

Pickups at SNA

How pickup requests work

You can pick up curbside at the Arrivals level at each terminal. We recommend calling your rider to confirm their curbside column location to make it easier for you to find each other.

Driver Cancellations

You keep airports running smoothly. In order to have a great Uber experience at airports for both riders and partners, we need your help.

  • Please follow any airport rules and regulations. Additionally, if you’re picking up riders at the airport, please be available to complete all ride requests you accept.

  • Please do not ask riders for their destination and then cancel. This causes problems for riders trying to get home, and partners waiting for their next trip. It’s your choice to pick up riders at the airport.

  • Driver-partners who improperly use the app and intentionally disrupt the service for riders or partners, including excessively canceling rides or asking riders to cancel rides, may lose the ability to provide transportation to or from airports.

Uber staging lot at SNA

Uber driver-partners may wait for ride requests at the designated staging lot only. You will not receive an airport request outside of this lot (and may be issued a citation).

Where to wait to receive requests at SNA:

The map shows the waiting zone at the airport. The waiting zone is the area bordered by MacArthur Blvd, I-405, Von Karman Ave, and Route 73.

You must be within the waiting area to receive airport requests. There is no dedicated parking lot for Uber driver-partners; however, there is plenty of free parking available within this zone.

Please note: The waiting zone DOES NOT include the terminal loop consisting of John Wayne Airport Roadway and North Airport Way or the Cell Phone Waiting Lot located at the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Campus Dr. You will not receive any requests if you wait in the terminal loop, John Wayne Airport parking structures or Cell Phone Waiting Lot and may be subject to citation if found waiting for trip requests on Airport property.

Designated pickup area at SNA

When you drive into the waiting zone, you'll automatically be placed in line for the next airport pickup request. The line is first-in-first-out. This means that the driver-partner who has been waiting in the zone the longest will receive the next pickup request. Your location in the zone will not affect your place in line.

If you need to go offline or drive outside of the waiting zone for any reason, please be aware that you will lose your spot in line. To be fair to all driver-partners, if you come back online or drive back into the waiting zone after leaving you, will be placed at the back of the line. As always, if a rider cancels his or her trip, you'll still remain at the front of the line.
