Driver abstract
To become a driver, you’ll need to add your driver abstract to your Uber profile. Learn below what a driver abstract is and how to order one.
What is a driver abstract?
Your driver abstract is a summary of your driving record. It includes your merit and demerit points, convictions, and suspensions.
Driving Abstract Requirements per Province
Alberta
To drive with Uber in Alberta, you must provide an annual 3-year Standard Driver Abstract.
- The document must be uploaded to Uber within 30 days of its issue date.
- You can request your abstract at any Alberta Registry Agent location or online via the Alberta eServices website.
- You will be charged a fee for this service; this is not reimbursed by Uber.
- Once you have your abstract, upload this to the Documents Hub in your Uber app
British Columbia
You must provide a commercial driving record from ICBC, indicated by an “N” on the top of the document. On the ICBC website, ensure that you check the box for “Commercial Driving Record (National Safety Code abstract)”.
- Ensure your document is clearly marked with a large "N" at the top.
- You can request your driving record online through the ICBC website, or by visiting an ICBC driver licensing office in person.
- The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.
- Once you receive your document from ICBC, upload this to the Documents Hub in your Uber app
Manitoba
You must provide a current driving record from Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI).
- Complete the Driver Abstract Request Form and bring it to any MPI Service Centre. See here for a list of MPI Service Centre locations.
- The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.
- Once you receive your abstract, upload this to your Documents Hub.
Newfoundland and Labrador
You must provide a current Driver Abstract (can be obtained online through the MyGovNL portal). You can complete this screening quickly and securely online via our vendor, ISB.
If you choose to provide your own documents, you must provide your Driver Abstract to Uber Support.
Please note:
- The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.
- Once you have received your document, please contact Uber Support to upload the document for review.
Nova Scotia
You must provide a driving abstract from the Nova Scotia Registry of Motor Vehicles.
- You can request your abstract in person at any Access Nova Scotia location or by mailing/faxing a request form to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
- The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.
- There is a fee for this service; which is not reimbursed by Uber.
- Once you receive your abstract, upload this to the Documents Hub in your Uber app
Ontario
You must provide a 3 Year Driver Record Search from Service Ontario. You can complete this screening quickly and securely online via our vendor, Triton.
If you choose to provide your own documents, you must provide your 3 Year Driver Record Search from Service Ontario to Uber Support.

- The document must be submitted to Uber within 90 days of the document’s issue date.
- Once you have received your document, please contact Uber Support to upload the document for review.
Quebec
You must provide a 3 Year Driver Record Search from SAAQ. You can complete this screening quickly and securely online via our vendor, ISB.
If you choose to provide your own documents, you must provide your 3 Year Driver Record Search from SAAQ to Uber Support.

Saskatchewan
You must provide a Saskatchewan Driver's Abstract from SGI. You can complete this screening quickly and securely online via our vendor, ISB.
If you choose to provide your own documents, you must provide your Saskatchewan Driver's Abstract from SGI to Uber Support.
