Activate your vehicle
To drive with Uber in Regina, your vehicle must pass an inspection at a certified vehicle inspection station and receive a Mechanical Safety Inspection Certificate with a Light Vehicle Inspection Certificate.
Important: Check to make sure your mechanic is licenced by SGI and can issue a Mechanical Safety Inspection Certificate' for light vehicles. Please note that Uber does not cover the cost of the inspection or any repairs and maintenance needed to pass an inspection. The inspection costs $99.99 + tax with our preferred inspection partner Canadian Tire, costs at other inspection sites may vary.
Complete the inspection at a Canadian Tire or at an approved mechanic near you.
To find a MPI-approved mechanic near you, check SGI's list of certifed vehicle inspection stations. Make sure you select 'Light vehicle' in the 'Inspection type' dropdown menu.
Annual vehicle inspections
1. Find an inspection centre
Find your nearest MPI-approved inspection centre and make an appointment with a mechanic that can provide a Mechanical Safety Inspection Certificate with Light Vehicle Inspection Certificate.
2. Complete a vehicle inspection
Bring your vehicle in for the inspection. If your vehicle passes the inspection, the mechanic will give you a Mechanical Safety Inspection Certificate.
Note that Uber does not cover the cost of the inspection or any repairs and maintenance needed to pass an inspection.
3. Upload your certificate of inspection
After you pass your vehicle inspection, upload a clear photo of the certicate to your Uber account. It's important to know that you must upload a photo of the document to your Uber profile within 30 days of passing the inspection.
