No mask. No ride.
We all play a role in helping keep each other safe. That’s why as part of our Door-to-Door Safety Standard, riders and drivers are required to wear a face cover or mask.
Our new Door-to-Door Safety Standard
We want you to feel safe riding with Uber as our communities start to move again. That’s why we’re introducing our new Door-to-Door Safety Standard. Powered by Uber’s innovative technology, encouraging shared responsibility, and including guidance from health experts, these new measures are designed to help protect the health and safety of everyone who uses our platform.
In this together
All riders and drivers must wear a face cover or mask when using Uber.
Face Cover Check
We ask drivers to take a photo of themselves before they can begin driving, and our technology helps verify that they are wearing a face cover.
Health and safety supplies for drivers
We are working to provide drivers and delivery people with health and safety supplies like face covers, disinfectants, and gloves to deliver food.
We are working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to share safety tips and resources.
Ride Safety Feedback
You’ll now be able to leave feedback on health issues, such as a driver not wearing a face cover or a mask. This helps us improve and holds everyone accountable.
Lysoform helps protect your deliveries and trips
We take your safety and that of the entire community very seriously. That is why we are joining Lysoform, one of the world's leading disinfection specialists, to make Lysoform disinfectants available free of charge to partner drivers and delivery partners in several cities in Brazil.
How safety is built into your experience
Safety features in the app
Share your trip details with loved ones. Track your trip during your ride. Call the authorities right from the app. Our technology helps put peace of mind at your fingertips.
An inclusive community
Millions of riders and drivers share a set of Community Guidelines, holding each other accountable to do the right thing.
Support at every turn
A specially trained team is available 24/7. Reach them in the app, day or night, with any questions or safety concerns.
Building safer journeys for everyone
Uber has machine learning technology that blocks trips considered potentially dangerous and checks the National ID for all users that pay trips in cash. Our focus is on your safety, so you can go where the opportunity is.
Millions of rides are requested every day on our platform: all of them are tracked by GPS and insured in case of a covered accident. Every partner driver goes through a background check, in accordance with the law, run by a specialized company.
The future of safety
More than 200 Uber employees, from researchers and scientists to designers and engineers, are focused on building technology that puts safety at the heart of your experience. Uber will also have its first Technology Development Center focused on Safety in Brazil, with more than 150 professionals and an investment of 250 million reais over the next 5 years.
Partnering to make a difference
Our commitment to safety goes beyond your ride. We have teamed up with leading experts—from public safety officials to anti-violence organizations—to help make roads and cities safer for all.
