Whether you’re interested in science, art, music, or history, Los Angeles has a museum for just about everything. And while some think LA is mainly a destination for sun and surf, there are many fascinating museums to explore. If you’re sightseeing with a group of family or friends, order an uberXL to get around and experience the best of LA culture.

Griffith Observatory

If you love seeing stars (and not just celebrities), Griffith Observatory is the perfect place to learn and be inspired. Visitors can look through telescopes, enjoy astronomy exhibits, and watch live shows in the Oschin Planetarium. Located on Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, this popular attraction has spectacular views of LA and also has a great view of the iconic Hollywood sign. (2800 E. Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Since opening in 1965, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has collected works of art representing world history and geography, as well as showcasing the art of LA’s diverse population. It’s now the largest art museum in the western United States, displaying nearly 130,000 objects from antiquity through the present. Among their strengths are its holdings of Asian, Latin American, and Islamic art. (5905 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036)

The GRAMMY Museum

The GRAMMY Museum at LA Live is an interactive celebration of the power of music and the enduring legacies of creativity, the recording process, and the history of the GRAMMY Awards. Since 2008, the museum has offered visitors cutting-edge, interactive exhibits, films, and concerts that explore many musical genres, from rock and hip-hop to country, classical, Latin, R&B, and jazz. Concerts sell out quickly, so buy your tickets online in advance. (800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015)

Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

The Natural History Museum‘s new Dinosaur Hall is one of the coolest dinosaur experiences in the West, with 20 complete dinosaurs, sea creatures, and more than 300 fossils. The museum houses nearly 35 million specimens and artifacts, covering 4.5 billion years of history. Birds, shells, insects, gems, mammals, and an outdoor nature area make up a few of the other permanent sights. (900 Exposition Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90007)

Petersen Automotive Museum

A visit to car-loving LA wouldn’t be complete without the Petersen Automotive Museum, dedicated to the history of the automobile and its impact on American life and culture. Vehicles on display range from an 1886 Benz to a 2015 Tesla, with three floors dedicated to different themes: automotive history, the industry, and creative artistry. Major exhibits change every three to 12 months, but individual cars and smaller exhibits change more frequently. (6060 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036)
