On Wednesday, the Uber Kansas team visited Ft. Riley, a military base outside of Manhattan, Kansas. The team was on-site at for a Hiring Heroes Career Fair hosted by the Department of Defense that drew a crowd of more than 300 military members – most of whom will be transitioning out of service within the next year.
In September 2014, we announced our UberMILITARY initiative. We pledged to on-board 50,000 members of the military community onto the Uber platform.
We’re making good on that promise each and every day.
In addition to answering questions for attendees at our booth at Ft. Riley, the team hosted a presentation and Q&A session for service members about what it means to be a driver partner with Uber.
Becoming a driver partner with Uber is a flexible way for Veterans to earn when their service ends and they are transitioning back to civilian life. Veterans also happen to be some of our best driver partners on the road, maintaining higher driver ratings, and more trips per week than the average driver partner.
Check out some of the incredible stats about our MILITARY driver partners:
We’ve recently expanded our operations to Lawrence, Leavenworth, Manhattan, and Topeka and we look forward to working with local organizations to share the benefits of driver partnership with members of the military community.
