At Uber we believe doors are always opening for opportunity. We are excited to announce that over the next three years, Uber has committed to donating $1,000,000 to Chicago mentorship programs. Erin Guthrie, General Manager of Uber in Chicago, is deeply invested and passionate about education and youth mentorship programs in the communities where Uber driver-partners live. As a new mother, she believes that programs like BAM and WOW are helping to empower our youth and shape future generations.
Last year, we donated an additional $1,000,000 to Youth Guidance in support of the Becoming a Man (BAM)® and Working on Womanhood (WOW) mentorship programs, enabling them to expand programming to 8 additional schools. In addition to these donations, Uber has committed to offering free rides to help mentors, Uber Eats meals to mentees as well as hosting programs in its Chicago offices for workshops and mock interviews throughout the school year as the youth prepare for the next chapter of their lives. For some that means applying to college or starting their careers.
