What to donate
We’re after quality clothing that’s clean, in good nick and ready for a second life in Red Cross Shops. Head to the Uber Newsroom for a clear guide on the quality items Red Cross needs most this year, as well as what they can’t accept.
Why donate?
Red Cross Shops rely on quality clothing and accessory donations to raise funds for vital programs supporting people and communities experiencing disaster, hardship and crisis across Australia, New Zealand, and around the world. The better the quality of donated items, the more value they can create when sold through Red Cross Shops.
Reducing Waste
Donating quality, wearable clothing to Australian Red Cross Shops gives those pieces a second life and helps keep them out of landfill.
What’s Courier on Uber?
Ever noticed the ‘Courier’ option in the Uber app? Use it to get your packages delivered in minutes – be it something you’ve left behind, a business order, a gift for a friend’s birthday or an item you sold online.

What can I donate?
Australian Red Cross Shops need quality, saleable clothing and accessories to raise funds for people facing hardship, crisis and disaster. As a general rule, if it is something you would feel good about giving to a friend, then it is perfect to donate. Quality, vintage, retro or designer pieces are welcomed! Please do not send damaged, dirty or stained clothing. No undergarments or socks.
Can I donate furniture, electrical items, books, CDs, DVDs?
No, thank you. Unfortunately we are unable to accept furniture and other household items. Furniture and other household items are not to be donated. Though it is worth searching for a better suited organisation to donate these items to.
Can I donate children's clothes?
No, thank you. While we appreciate that many want to donate quality children’s clothing, unfortunately most Australian Red Cross Shops do not sell children’s clothing.
Can I donate shoes?
Yes! We’d love to accept your donations of shoes. Just make sure they’re clean, undamaged, unsoiled and of good quality. If possible, please try to group them so they can easily stay as a pair whilst being sorted. You could do this by placing them in a shoebox or smaller individual bag.
The app says no driver available. What should I do?
While maintaining a consistently reliable supply of delivery people in participating cities during the Clothing Drive event is a priority, there may be instances where a request may go unfulfilled due to high demand, or a temporary shortage of delivery people in the area. If you are encountering this situation, we suggest allowing some time to pass before requesting again.
My donation has been picked up but seems to be headed to a different location than the one I selected?
Special drop-off locations are set up for the day of the event to handle the volume of donations. This may mean that your delivery will be automatically rerouted to one of the event drop-off locations.
Do I need to use a specific bag?
No. Any sturdy bag (i.e. one that won’t easily rip) or box that can hold your items will do! Gather your pre-loved items into a bag or box, no heavier than 20 kg, to comfortably sit in the boot of a mid-size car.
Where do proceeds go?
The funds raised from clothes sold at Red Cross Shops goes towards funding Australian Red Cross programs that support those in need across Australia, and overseas. This includes people coping with hardship, crisis and disaster. The funds enable Australian Red Cross to support people experiencing vulnerability, including support for people before, during and after disasters, daily phone calls to help older Australians feel less isolated, and practical help for former refugees as they rebuild their lives.
Can I donate more than 20kg?
Only one free pick up can be booked per person. The donation should be no more than 20 kg and able to comfortably fit in the boot of a mid-sized car.
If you have more than 20 kg to donate, you could try partnering up with a friend or family member. Each eligible user can book one free Uber Courier pick up for the clothing drive. Thanks for getting involved!
Can I pre-book?
No pre-booking is available. Please book between 10 am and 4 pm local time on Saturday, 17 Oct 2026.
Why isn’t the Clothing Drive available in my city / area?
While we’re not able to be in every city and town for the 2026 Clothing Drive, we hope to grow this great initiative to serve more people. New cities and towns may be added for future clothing drives!
We always welcome quality pre-loved donations at any time, so feel free to drop off your items at a Red Cross Shop near you.
I’m in the outer suburbs. Can I participate?
