Tomorrow the Pennsylvania PUC is going vote on whether to grant an Emergency Temporary Authority (ETA) to Uber in Pittsburgh. So, what does this mean? If granted, this Authority will be an important step toward addressing a pressing need for safe, affordable, and reliable rides. Pittsburgh is a modern and forward-looking city, and it should have transportation options and regulations to reflect that.
Urge the PUC to support consumer choice and transportation options by granting Uber an ETA. Safety is Uber’s number one priority, and we set the industry standard for consumer safety across the country. All uberX rides in Pennsylvania are insured up to $1M per incident — over 28 times what is required of taxicabs in the state. Drivers must pass a rigorous background check, which includes county, multi-state, and federal checks, before they are ever allowed to access our platform. Furthermore, transparency is built into every ride requested through the Uber app. Drivers are rated on a 1-5 scale after each trip, and we ensure that only the best drivers have access to our platform. Reach out to the PUC commissioners using the contact information below and tell them #PGHneedsUber.
Here is the PUC commissioners’ contact info. Call/write as many of them as possible and tell them not having access to safe, affordable, and reliable rides is an emergency! If you’re on Twitter, here’s a link you can use to tweet to both @PA_PUC and @GovernorCorbett:
