Driving at Seattle-Paine Field Airport (PAE)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Airport regulations

Per airport regulations, drivers must adhere to the terms below. Failure to do so may result in a citation or even restriction of access to airport trips. Please note that Uber will not pay for any citations that you may incur.

When on airport property, the Uber driver app must be open at all times (drivers must not go offline unless exiting the airport area, not on a trip).

The Uber sticker (trade dress) must always be displayed on the vehicle’s windshield for airport trips. Drivers can fill out this form to have the sticker delivered to them.

Helpful tips for airport trips

Driver cancellations: Trip cancellations can take away from the great Uber experience that both riders and drivers expect. Please remember that drivers who improperly use the app and intentionally disrupt the service, including excessively canceling rides or asking riders to cancel rides, may lose the ability to receive trip requests to and from the airport through the Uber Driver app.

Ground transportation and airport security staff: Airport rules are as important as traffic rules. Airports expect driver-partners to follow the instructions of the airport staff.

Pickups at the airport

Waiting for pickup requests

In order to receive a trip request, drivers are required to be off of airport property.

Drivers who wish to receive an airport request after dropping off an airport rider must exit airport property.

Picking up your rider

When picking up an airport rider, driver-partners should follow airport signs to the rideshare pickup area. Use of the parking area outside of picking up riders is prohibited by the airport. Curbside pickups are not allowed by the airport unless the rider has an accessibility need.

Dropoffs at the airport

How dropoff requests work

Based on the operating agreement with the airport, dropoffs are only allowed in the TNC lanes in the Ground Transportation lot. If you’d like to receive a trip request afterward, you’ll need to head to the designated waiting area and keep the Uber driver app on and open in order to maintain your place in the queue.

The airport does not allow curbside dropoffs unless the rider has an accessibility need.

Accessibility

Per PAE, curbside access is granted only to ADA riders. All riders with special needs, mobility challenges, or those in need of assistance may be dropped off and picked up curbside. For all other rides that do not require accessibility accommodations.
