Uber has partnered with Waymo to make autonomous rides available through the Uber app in Atlanta.
How autonomous Waymo rides on Uber work
If you’ve already opted in for autonomous rides on your Uber profile, you may be matched with a Waymo AV (autonomous vehicle) when requesting an eligible ride from a qualifying location in Atlanta. UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort, and Uber Comfort Electric rides are all eligible to be matched with a Waymo vehicle, but ride options may vary by region.
If you’re matched with a Waymo autonomous vehicle, you’ll get a ride offer in your Uber app letting you know. From there, select Accept ride and a all-electric Waymo Jaguar I-PACE will be on its way to pick you up.
Easy to Spot
After the Waymo vehicle arrives at the pickup location, it will display your initials on its rooftop dome so that you can easily identify it.
One-step Access
When you’re ready to get in, you can unlock the Waymo vehicle by choosing Unlock car in your Uber app.
Plenty of Room
Autonomous Waymo vehicles on Uber can seat up to 4 riders, and they offer ample trunk storage.

While you can’t directly request a ride in an autonomous Waymo vehicle in the Uber app, updating your preferences can boost your chances of being matched with one in the future.
Follow the steps below to opt in to autonomous rides in Atlanta:

As a courtesy to other riders who may have allergies, we do not currently allow pets in Waymo vehicles. Service animals, however, are always welcome in accordance with our Service Animal and Assistive Device Policy.

If you ever need help during a ride, you can contact support 24/7 through the Uber app or Waymo’s in-car screen. Plus, Uber’s safety features—accessible by selecting the blue safety shield in the app—are always available to help ensure a smooth experience.
