If you’re flying into the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH), you might be surprised to find out that there’s more to this college town than just Florida State University and Florida A&M. There’s a host of museums for the kids to visit and a wide array of bars and nightclubs for adults looking to cut loose. Uber is available in Tallahassee, and it’s not only a great way to explore the city, but it’s also a comfortable and economical option when it comes to getting to or from the airport. Consider requesting an uberX once you land, or if you’re traveling with a larger party, an uberXL for more space.

Here are some helpful things to know for your next trip in and out of TLH:

Tallahassee International: tips and resources

  • Uber Airport Page: For all the information you need on getting a ride, head over to Uber’s airport page for the TLH. Once you’ve collected your bags and selected your vehicle, simply confirm your location. Be sure that you’re on the arrivals level, but if for some reason you can’t find your car, don’t hesitate to call and coordinate.
  • Flight Status: Stay on top of the statue of your departing flight here.
  • Traffic Report: Listen to 100.7 WFLA for traffic updates. You can also consult Google Maps for alternate routes.
  • TSA Guidelines: To get caught up on the latest TSA Guidelines, check here before packing your bags.
  • Security Wait Time: Speaking of the TSA, you can view security wait times by looking here.
  • Airport Info: You can follow TLH on Twitter for their latest news, and check out their Facebook to get a feel for the airport before you go. You can also refer to this helpful visitor’s information page over at TLH’s official website.

Where to go in Tallahassee

If you feel Tallahassee mysteriously drawing you in, it’s probably not the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at FSU (unless you happen to wearing a suit of armor). There’s plenty to see and do in the Big Bend that you can’t help but get pulled in. Here are a few things to check out during your stay in Tallahassee:

  • Tallahassee Museum: One of the best ways to explore Florida’s rich natural and cultural heritage is to plan a trip to the Tallahassee Museum. In addition to several nature trails and a boardwalk overlooking a cypress habitat, visitors can also see wildlife native to the area and homesteads from the 1880s at the Big Bend Farm exhibit. You can even take a zip line tour of the entire park.
  • Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park: The Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park features 1,176 acres of glorious botanical gardens, which is perfect for sightseeing, bird-watching, fishing, and canoeing. You can even visit the Maclay’s restored winter home which appears as it originally did in 1909.
  • Cypress Restaurant: One of Tallahassee’s finest eateries is Cypress, a restaurant dedicated to modern Southern cuisine. While the menu tends to change according to what is seasonally available, be sure to try the Florida Shrimp and Grits. And whatever you do, don’t forget to save room for dessert, as their drool-inducing ice cream is made in house.
